Crisis
/ Threat Management
Basic
Procedures To Follow
-
Create a Crisis Management Team (CMT).
- Identify
the key decision maker.
- Know
who will call 911 in an emergency.
-
Know the best law enforcement person to call for each
type of crisis or threat and keep that information readily
available for selected employees in your organization.
- Know
when to alert internal security.
- Identify
a forensic psychologist to evaluate any threatening individual.
- Make
sure your CMT is small enough to reach decisions quickly.
- Establish
guidelines for identifying when a Temporary Restraining
Order (TRO) should be acquired and have clear-cut procedures
on how to promptly secure a TRO.
- Have
the police department review your CMT plan.
- Have
security professionals available 24/7/365 if the police
are unable to respond to an immediate threat.
- Involve
your legal counsel in the process. Identify the stage
at which they are to be notified of a threat and how to
contact them at any time of the day or evening.
- Know
how the threat will be communicated within your organization.
-
Establish training schedules and practice drills so that
your employees can readily respond to an evacuation and
other kinds of emergency situations.
-
Preparation is key to risk mitigation and personnel safety.

are some basic tips to start a Crisis Management program.
