Measuring
the Security of Your Facilities
- When
was the last time the physical security of your facility
was reviewed by an outside expert?
- Does
your company escort terminated employees offsite using
security officers or human resources?
- Are
exit interviews conducted in closed offices with only
one exit?
- Is
physical access open to anyone coming onto your premises?
- Does
the receptionist know who is allowed or not allowed on
the site?
- Do
you have adequate external lighting?
- When
will you alert security in the event of a potential threat?
- Who
is identified to respond to after-hours threats?
- Are
security personnel trained to respond to a threat situation
with specific actions?
- Are
employees trained on escape routes?
- Have
you measured the response time of emergency services to
your site?
- Have
you conducted a periodic surprise inspection of your Guard
Service at night?
- Does
your company have written policies and practice drills
for its employees on how to safely evacuate the premises
and respond to fire alarms, bomb threats and other types
of security threats?
- Do
you know who your temporary employees and contractors
are? Do they need to sign-in before entering your facility
upon arrival?
- Do
you know who your janitors are? Does anyone review which
sensitive systems/areas they have access to?
- Do
your employees feel safe in your parking lot after hours?
Is the lighting adequate?
- Does
anyone know when a disgruntled employee has left the company? Does anyone
know what to do if/when the disgruntled employee returns?
